Classroom Circles
An effective tool to build community in the classroom
Check-in CirclesA check-in circle happens at the beginning of the day and is a way of touching base with everyone, finding out how everyone is feeling and recalling values and principles on which the circle is based.
Check-out CirclesA check-out circle happens at the end of the day and gives the students the opportunity to share something they have enjoyed from that day and end on a positive note and a positive shared experience.
Curriculum CirclesCurriculum circles usually happen after a main activity or lesson has taken place. They provide opportunities for students to have a chance to reflect on what they have learned and share perspectives to deepen other people’s learning.
